Botox, less ability to understand and convey emotions
One possible side effect to botox seems to be the decreased ability of the person to understand certain emotions. This is the result of a study by University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA.
The research led to the volunteers read statements with special emotional, angry, sad or happy. After reading each sentence, subjects had to press a button to indicate that he understood what they read. Then, two weeks after Botox injections, the same volunteers repeated the exercise, read and understand lists of emotion, producing sentences.
The volunteers pressed the button "I have read and understood" just as quickly when the sentence conveyed something happy. But when the sentences meant something irritating or unhappy, people needed more time to read and understand. This is the first study suggesting that Botox affects the ability to understand the emotional content of language.
